Nebiat Markos
Technology does not exist in a vacuum - it reflects the values of those who design it. My name is Nebiat Markos, and I am a Senior at the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in Informatics with a minor in Diversity. Scheduled to graduate in June 2026, I am an aspiring entry-level associate in tech committed to confronting the harms embedded in modern and emerging technological systems. Through my academic, research, and personal experiences, I have developed a strong interest in examining how artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-making can reinforce inequities, as well as contributing to the design of technologies that are effective, ethical, and socially responsible enough for our diverse and developing world to embrace.
